My Unholy Requiem [English Sonnet]

by Twisted Heart   Sep 26, 2007

Dark comes the whisper on this night of nights
As the moon tosses daggers at the stars
The feel of his breath has caused me a fright
In the blackened pitched depths of my heart.

He's awakened my soul from a slumber
With a howl at the moon I now arise
From bowels seared inside, I feel hunger
As taste for fresh meat is cast in my eyes.

Searching the corners of dark lonely streets
In alleys I seek to find crimson wine
Perhaps, an innocent... Oh what a treat
To taste the succulent blood so divine.

A call from Master is heard in the breeze
A breath of seduction tending my needs.

A coil of talons reach down in the night
Gripping my soul with a dark winter's song
The demons around me rise to take flight
Their voices echo and drag me along

Among darkened pillars of Master's lair
En crouched 'neath the moon in shadows I lie
A maiden, so pure... gold flecks in her hair
Rests on the slab, with fear in her eyes.

From the thunderous clashing of moonlight
Comes Master to feast from her tender neck
When his thirst is sated he moves aside
Leaving his children to feed on her flesh.

With a dirge on his breath, he calls to me
My Master... My lover... eternally.

I really liked how you managed to write a poem in this style. I like sonnets.
The storyline was very dark and creepy towards the end. Really captivating.
I enjoyed the last line. It's dark as well as romantic; a very nice combination of the two.
    Good work!

    Jeannie,
Oh my oh my. This was great. I adore dark writes and when it involves vampires it's even better. I am a huge Anne Rice fan and it seems as though with this write you snatched her ability to chill me to the bone. As you did in this amazing write. I love these formats and styles you have been writing in although it is difficult for me to write myself. The imagery in this pulled me in and held me captive. Wonderful Job 5/5

This is a very dark and chilling poem but at the same time its interesting to read. It kept my attention throughout. I tried to write a Sonnet and failed terribly and now reading your poem and seeing that you've written two, all I can say is that this is extremely impressing.

    Take Care.
