Somewhere between life and death

by Katie   Sep 27, 2007

I remember you pointing at a big bright star
But now without you it seems so far
And soon the price must be paid
As your heart and soul begin to fade
Am I like you behind the bars?
Bottling up emotions in numbered jars
You block the light to create the shade
It's a severed life you chose to trade
Why do you feel the need to kill
This road to death you follow still
I imagined a blanket covering your eyes
A ceremony of sweet goodbyes
Over the endless upward hill
The hunger that you'll never fill
I remembered a life of safe lullabies
Whilst behind the smiles lingered angry lies.
Slitting your throat to open a door
Its just a life what's it good for?
You told me then that death was near
But it's just a game. He's always here
You are the coward who gives in to fear
You are too proud to shed a tear
You treat it like a starting gun?
But if you shoot the race is done.
But the more you chase and the more you run
It cuts you deeper until it's won
Love is the drug you had to choose
But hate is the medium you always use
My dreams were caught like fireflies
But they and you like everything dies.
Death will win but life always tries
Amongst the spiralling lows and highs
