Shining Hope Through Skies So Gray [Sonnet]

by SmileeItsBritt   Sep 27, 2007

I've found truth lies in the darkest places
Embedded sorrow in a simple lie
We get lost in the millions of faces
Wondering how can a friendship survive?

In actuality trust is useless
Too many people let you down in life
Promises made without a second guess
Can't fathom why we continue to fight

As we lose sight of all we thought we knew
We try to keep our feet on solid ground
With hope rekindled, and trust born a new
We can turn the hearts of the world around

Despite the struggles in which you engage
There's always a hope that people will change.
