I thought I could trust you

by stephanie   Sep 27, 2007

"I thought I could trust you
But I guess that can't be true
You were supposed to be my good friend
Who I could tell everything too.

But instead, you broke my heart
And broke my growing trust
Cause you opened up my secrets
To someone I distrust.

I have given you so much
More than you think you would ever know
I was revealing every bit about me,
While you told all the news to someone else.

I thought of you as my brother
Who would always have my back
But now I know the truth
Which burnt me worse than bad.

At least I found out now
That friends can't be trusted
Cause one can never know
What lies beneath ones smiling, generous face.

I guess I should thank you
For teaching me such a big lesson
Cause from this day onwards, I will always keep in mind
To watch out for myself

And protect myself from letting go."

When friends stab you in the back, it feels much more hurtful than when a stranger does it..
A wonderful poem though, it spoke volumes

Very unfortunate. I hope you find people that you can trust and be close to. Don't let this one person ruin your chance of sharing great friendships in life.
