Fly Away

by Marly   Sep 28, 2007

Jessie was born into the wrong
But she longs to step into the right
She wishes to be like those other girls
She prays for this every night

Her parents gave her a life
But just did'nt give her the time
All those things Jessie must see
Imprint in her memory to stay in her mind

As Jessie puts herself to bed
At she lies awake holding her teddy tight
Her daddy's yelling, her mummy's screaming
Like they do every other night

The sound of bottles fall to the floor
As her mummy's starts to cry
Jessie trys to dream away
As a single tear falls from her eye

She wakes in the middle of the night
With tears from a terrible nightmare
She runs up to her mummy's room
The door swings open but mummy isn't there

Before she slips back into her bed
She stares in the mirror for a while
Hoping one day there will be a girl
Staring back at her with a smile

Jessie lies alone forgotten tonight
As no body hears her cries
"One day I'll wake in the morning light
Without any tear drops in my eyes"

In the morning when she wakes
Once again, she walks herself to school
Wandering alone in her world
Living in a place so cruel

"What I want to be when I grow up"
The teacher says to the class
As excited chatters fly through the room
Jessie sits quietly, thinking fast

She listened to the other children
Speaking of being a vet, fireman or nurse
But Jessie spoke from the heart
There was no time to rehearse

"I want to be a butterfly,
Whose wings are colored like a rainbow.
I will fly higher every day
With the more time my wings grow"

Jessie spoke these words how
She prayed them every single day
"Then one day when I'm strong enough
I'll spread my wings and fly away"
