It really is over?

It really does hurt Eli,
It hurts me to say goodbye,
I had to fight my tears back so hard.
I wasn't going to give in and cry.

It really is over isn't it?
Too bad it ended this way.
You left me with so many questions sweetheart,
I still had so much to say.

But I'm tired of coming in second,
Or in my case, coming in third.
But what hurts me the most baby,
Is that I lost you (my best friend) to her.

All I can do now love,
Is try to mend my broken heart.
And by erasing you completely,
Is where I think I must start.

I won't ever forget you though,
Because you made me so happy at times.
But we are no longer Jesse and Eli,
You are no longer mine.

I have to pick up my own broken pieces,
And put my heart together one by one.
You are now free from me baby,
Go out and have some fun.

Go out and be crazy,
Live your life free.
But promise me one thing before I go my love,
Promise to never forget me.
