John Doe!

She followed in the footsteps of her father
But she doesn't know why she even bothered
She tried to find the good in all the bad she seen him do
But that wouldn't stop her true feelings from showing through

The thick layer of skin she built around her heart
Because she knew one day her feelings would start
To show and she didn't want anybody to know who she really was
But what good that really does?

Is somethin we'll never find out
She tried so hard to figure what her dad was about
But he only came around every once in a while
He left her mother way back when she was a child

And didn't even bother to call and check up on the children he'd left behind
As a child growing up without a father she almost lost her mind
All the time that had passed and not a birthday or holiday did he call
She really started to believe in her mind he didn't love her at all

Her mom seen him one day when she was out and told him how they were
He told her he was fine and that he wanted to spend time with his daugh-ter
Her mother told her that she had seen him and what he had
said
She told her mother that she would have rather been
dead

Than to spend time with a father she did
not know
To her, her father was just another
John Doe!

This poem is about a lost relationship between a girl and her father. It is a personal poem of mine and my favorite. I hope you enjoy it.
