They Called Her "Darkness"
By My Decadent

A black heart will only find beauty in endless dark
Where the shadows of death may tear you apart...

*

Sun setting into a dusk without shadows;
The light dispersed through broken meadows;
Silent steps breaking solitude around -
You can hear everything yet nothing makes a sound.

Second by second - slowly times goes,
The sun has disappeared yet darkness never shows;
No shadow, only light - how can this be true?
You're no where to be found - what are we to do?

They all despise you for veiling the sun,
Yet without you their lives are undone;
They despise how you seem to fill the air with death,
Yet without your presence they can't catch their breath.

**

Once upon atrocity, you swore you'll leave forever
As everyone thought that without you they'd be better;
But how can you have light without dark?
How can you separate night from its darkened heart?

You vanished into thin air... left us all alone;
I still think your shadows were our only true home...
And I still wait for you each day and so-called night,
Waiting for you to come back and veil this dreadful light.

My love, come back, and return into my arms,
Come back once more and surrender to my charms;
I need you to survive, without you I am but ash
As the sun rays could kill me in a flash...

**

Weeks have passed and you're still not here,
It seems as if you magically disappeared...
I can feel the blood inside my veins slowly dry;
Come back, my love, come back or I will slowly die...

I cannot dwell inside this cave anymore;
I need to feed - my hunger is making me sore,
But I cannot dare to face the light outside
Though I'd love to kill all those who made you hide -

Just sink my teeth in their flesh and make them regret
For calling you names and making you upset,
For forcing me to stay in this God forsaken place,
Hiding like a coward, sheltered by sunlight's embrace.

*

They called her "Darkness", I called her my love -
My only protection from the sun above...

    WOW. Seriously, this is probably one of the best poems I've read on this site in a LONG time. Nicely done, and I'm lovin' the word choice. The flow was perfect, and the topic...just wow.
