Depression Entwined with Smiles

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Sep 29, 2007

She was the one who laughed the loudest,
Amongst everyone else in our group of friends,
She was the one who made her parents the proudest,
With her striving courage that had no ends.

A smile strong enough to take your breath away,
She stood strong for those who needed her the most,
And she went on in disguise, day after day;
For the good of others, she hid all of her ghosts.

A closet full of skeletons looked me in the eye and lied,
The day she told me that she was finally happy,
So I ignored the feeling that I tried so hard to hide,
And gave her the best wishes, sincerely from me.

I never looked past the silly tears forming in her eyes,
Or the times I seen the bruises under her foundation,
She hid her pain so well under her beautiful disguise,
But the pain she cut into herself was no exaggeration.

You can only get by on fake smiles for so long,
Eventually you`re going to have to face that light,
Depression entwined with smiles led her wrong --
The night that she finally decided to end her fight.

That was sad, it flowed well and the emotion in each stanza was so powerful.
The wording and style of writing was perfect.
    Love always, Tara-Kay
