Where Do Broken Hearts Go

Where do you store a broken heart
Until it finally heals
Where does it go to mend itself
From all the pain it feels
Do stars up in the sky so bright
Clash with the fading moon
And tells it that the dreams you had
Will be returning soon
Or are they just repeating lines
You too at one time knew
Before you held the broken parts
Of your soul torn in two.
Where do you hide when all is lost
You feel you can't go on
And even though you search in vain
There's no place you belong.
Upon the empty heart there lies
Forgotten memories
Inside your mind are distant hopes
Just waiting to be free
But still the pain inside your soul
Seems endless on this night
No movement comes to stay the hurt
That's holding on so tight.

So now the question comes to me
Where do hearts go to mend
Is there a place inside of you
To welcome an old friend
One who has signs of battle scars
That's buried ever deep
Inside recesses of your mind
Where joy has gone to sleep.
Will ever there be such a time
When once again you see
A day that breaks inside of you
On edge of fantasies
Once more to walk from shadows
that lay heavy on your heart
To store the broken promises
That pulled your world apart
To see a future for your soul
In tune and so complete
Lord tell me there is hope at last
For wounds to heal in peace
Where do the broken hearts call home
While they are on the mend
Before they venture from the nest...
Until they love again.
