A true story

by purplemadness   Oct 1, 2007

I woke up one morning on that terrible day,
Rain was beating on the window and the sky was grey.
The wind was blowing loud and hard,
I looked for you and somehow I felt the breaking of my heart.
There was a note on the kitchen table.
It said that you needed to go,
And to love me you were no longer able.
Whatever made you decide like this I didn't know.
I tried to contact you on your cell but the line was dead,
Just like the feelings for me that you once had.
I don't know what I have done wrong,
That made you react this strong.
Didn't I always treat you like a queen?
Haven't I taken you to places you've never seen?
Every week I bought you the prettiest flowers,
And at nights we talked for hours.
It seemed to me that you were so happy
But now you have betrayed me.
I look outside and watch the rain beat on the floor,
I watch behind me and I see you standing in our door.
And so I jump up and run to hold you.
Just before I reach you, you vanish into thin air,
For a moment there, I didn't have a clue,
Then I get it and I cry your name in despair.
It was a trick of the mind that placed you near me,
And I was too blinded by joy, I did not see.
It has been a while since you've gone away,
But still I bleed inside, every day.
Now I know why you told our love goodbye,
You're in the arms of another guy.
He has blinded you with promises and money,
I never thought you where that easy persuade, honey.
I hope you will get happy with this guy,
But someone else will come around and you also tell him goodbye.
All that's left from you are the memories that are lodged deep in me,
At least I don't have to pay for them, memories are for free.
