Guardian Angel

by Jess   Oct 1, 2007

Once a happy girl,
Oh, how things have changed.
Ten years later, an empty soul.
The only thing she feels is pain.

Her mother died of cancer,
When she was only three.
She left her with a locket
But never found the key

Living on the streets,
Barely getting by;
She curls up near a tree
And wishes she would die.

She goes into a deep sleep
And sees her mothers face.
She tells her daughter to awake
And a sign will soon take place

Waking from the dream,
She now begins to cry.
Why did God let her be
The one to live this lie

She wipes away the tears,
And peers down at the ground.
She cannot believe for a second
The object she had found.

A little golden key
Is laying at her feet,
She slowly bends down,
And picks it off the street.

She pulls out her locket,
And unlocks it with the key,
Then whispers to herself
"She's watching over me."
