Let Me

by Megann Lee   Oct 2, 2007

Let me fake a smile.
Just a little one.
I'll even promise.
That it won't last.

It's OK, it always is.
Remember, they all say it.
Even when it's not.
It still is or so they say.

Let me be superman.
Just for one day.
Let me pretend I'm strong.
Let me pretend I can't get hurt.

Let me live in Pleasentville
Where happiness is all that exists
and tears are just from joy
Let me pretend we live in a fake place.

Let me pretend the world is OK.
That no one is ever not alright.
Let me just go to sleep and dream.
Let me wish that everything was OK.

Everyone can relate to this, I know I most definately can. Everyone has these days where they just fake the smile because it's easier than to not. Even though it's written about a lot, I think you did it justice in this piece. Another good read. Well done.
