Imaginary Memories

by Lithium   Oct 2, 2007

Keep me in your memories,
When I decide to leave your heart,
All this hurt inside,
Is enough to tear me apart,

I can't be who you want me to be,
This face is a paper mask,
Which will soon be shredded,
By razor blades from the past,

Why do you treat me this way?
Why is it so hard to let go?
Why won't this pain suffice?
Is it because you'll loose control?

I'll keep on waiting for my time,
I'll keep on dreaming,
Of more than a clear surface,
And all the happiness I am missing,

As I watch the time pass me by,
There's so much I've keep locked up inside,
A sorrow that never fades,
Thoughts possessing an unfulfilled mind,

So slowly I turn to ash,
The cold black winter even turns away,
I used to be my own protection,
But not now as night becomes day,

Forgetting all this hurt I hold within,
I ask someone to save me from myself,
Before I close the door forever,
Please just ask yourself,

For all this prose can no longer be imaginary,
It's the life in which I live,
Death almost seems the present,
I wish for you to give.

So sad....to lose one and be left with only memories...this is a very moving piece....the emotion and longing are evident in every verse...

^ This is excellent.....the "ash" of a spent relationship....love the Winter metaphor....

Really enjoyed this heartfelt and beautiful poem from you....take care, Debbie
