The Mask

by IfYouWantMe   Oct 2, 2007

You hide behind the mask,
A mask you made of lies.
Hoping never to feel,
So you sit in disguise.
Pushing everyone away,
You say it gets easier everyday.
Your mask has many faces...
Mostly it wears that fake smile,
The one I hate...
Funny thing about your mask,
When you are with me it no longer matters.
I see the real you, broken hearted, tattered.
I sit here and stare at the beauty before me,
How can you sit there and ignore me?
My heart cries out for you, my eyes burn,
I smile as if there is nothing wrong.
For I hide behind my own mask,
it hides my tears...

This is a really good poem, but what i didnt like was you were rhyming in the begining of the poem, then you went flat. besides that it was really good.
