Sick Or Treat?

by Independence Forever   Oct 2, 2007

A veritable cauldron of didn't identities
lawyers, doctors, people with infirmities

jack o'lanterns light the candy strewn path
restless spirits appease their year long wrath

a night of frolic and of care free fun
carries on until the return of the sun

on this night of nights feel free to be Hannibal
should your preference be softer be an animal

the kids may have their fun on Halloween night
but soon after parents will deliver the last fright

oh yes on that next day November first
children will wake up, feeling the worst

so in the end who wins, is it the adult or child
remember it'll be worse next year, less mild

I liked the idea of this poem and I really liked the middle. The beginning and the end however are a different story. I think that the first line is supposed to say different identities instead of didn't identities but I could be wrong. And the very last line throws off the poem. Less mild? that doesnt make much sence. I understand that you had to rhyme it but I think that a different line structure might have been a better choice. Very well done on the middle, and my favorite couplet had to be the 2nd last one. Its so true halloween night children always indulge themselves and make themselves sick, its part of the passage in life. 3/5

    Goodness Gracious.
I must say I was distracted by certain words. Lol. We're learning some of these in French right now.

But, the poem I'm quite fond of.
    Once again, you're I's.
I figure you're one of those who could probably care less. But, it just neatens it up, and who am I to judge. You may care. Lol.

And, I think the child wins. (:
I always loved Halloween for the reason I eat so much candy and wake up ill. Haha.
