Glossophobia

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Oct 3, 2007

Fear is an emotion from an unsettling event
Glossophobia would be mine
When the problem arises I attempt to circumvent
It makes my self-esteem decline

I begin to feel nauseous, I start to shake and stutter
I must hold my stomach contents
It seems as if the butterflies mock me as they flutter,
Even when another presents

I try to request for an alternative assignment,
But the answer's usually no
I feel I have no say and am put under confinement
A mess is all I can bestow

Glossophobia is the fear of public speaking
This fear of mine is here to stay
So when I speak to a group it's my fear that is peaking
All see the fear I convey

I've never heard of such a fear. From reading this and looking it up on the web, I understand it more. You've really done a super job with this! 5/5

I thought the middle stanzas were much stronger and creative than the others and in my opinion in should be up to the reader to find out what glossophobia means rather than telling them at the end. Personally I would have put more emphasis on the emotions and symptoms to give the reader an insight into your world.

I think this poem is a bit cliche. maybe thats what's missing. I am a more abstract poet and I tend o add parts of nature or emotion to my works so thta might also just be my style of opinion.
Thanks for educating me in glossophobia lol :)

It sounds kind of ditzy the word glossophobia because it's like "glossy" which I take as a "ditzy" word, but that may actually be the word for the phobia, so yeah, good poem anyway

Glossophobia?! That's kinda a weird word... I wasn't too fond of this poem... It was more like someone who was ditzy wrote it... It was ok in my book, but I'm sure other people liked it. That's just my taste... Don't get offended or anything. That's not what I'm here for...
