I Want to Be Me

I Want to Be Me

I want to be me.
I want to please you.
How can I do both?
I'm so confused.

It's breaking my heart.
I'm losing myself.
There are two people
But only one shelf.

It's easy to see
One of us must give
Out of our own dreams
Only one can live.

The sky's turning blue.
The rain starts to pour.
Here we go again.
It's just like before.

Neither surrender.
We are just too proud.
You can't go two ways
Where one's allowed.

I'm leaving for good.
It's a stupid fight.
I know you'll go left
And that I'll go right.

So why break a heart
Why cry any tears
When we must accept
What has happened here.

I'll remember you.
You remember me.
'Cause I'd rather keep
Just a memory.

I've just read the comment above, and I disagree completely. It displays alot of emotion thoughtout the entire piece. I think because its about a break up i expected to feel sad and disheartened .. yet i didn't - that's not to say i felt no emotion in it. To me it comes across as if it was written with resignation. The empathy comes into it because it seems the desolation is inevitable.
Nearly everyone has been in a relationship like this one; it just isn't supposed to be.

I love the impression it gives to me. V. nice work.
