Cyanide

by Quinn Specht   Oct 4, 2007

Those words you uttered,
from those beautiful lips.
How could I have ever known,
what was going to happen.
It was bliss, a flower unfolding...
going from the love to,
a wilting decay before my eyes.
I sat and waited, as you said..
but my heart was speaking a different note.
The clouds moved in,
dark and somber...
laden with rain and disgust.
All that was,
died...
Those tears I spilled,
washed away...in the dust and mud.
I can't tell you enough,
that my heart isn't the same,
that what you did, what you said...
put me under a petal.
Cyanide spills from my veins,
that wicked poison that I can't stand to hear.
Slip away, beyond the wind...
Don't let me see you leave,
with a tear in your eye.
Under the sun, I will weep,
but not for you.
