The Distance Of 14 Miles

by Goran Rahim   Oct 5, 2007

Whenever
I come toward your home,
I get lost
In my own world
Like a poet's incomplete poem.

The journey of 14 miles
Is like 1000 miles
It seems like
It will never finish.
At each moment,
Passing every feet
The heart is lost
With its own wish.

All it cares about is
Will this distance end soon?
Will I be there to see a moon?

Another mile I go
I ask myself,
What might she be wearing,
A red dress or the blue?
Whatever it is,
It will look great on you.

I pass another mile
I wonder
if she is going to open the door?
I don't know, but
That is what my heart wants for sure.

Another mile passes,
I ask myself
Is she sleeping,
Is she awake,
Or
Is she busy with homework?
I respond to myself,
"I don't know,
It depends on my luck."

The heart beats tell me
When I am near,
Everything is so bright.
When I reach there,
I get so nervous.
When I knock on your door,
A girl with the hazel eyes
Opens the door,
That is what
I wait for.

I’m normally not really into love poems but I do like this one. It’s so sweet!
I like how you express every mile with other words, I can see the whole image. Step for step. Very nice. 5/5
