We Die Alone

by Brittany   Oct 6, 2007

All we really have is nothing.
Nothing's all we ever own.
But in the end, it doesn't matter.
For in the end, we die alone.

The only thing that cannot change,
Death will always keep it's vow.
Behind the eyelids of the child,
A soul that life would not allow.

And when that child doesn't wake,
There will be heard a mournful cry,
To ask of God why one so young,
Was called upon, and had to die.

Still, far away, a young girl waits.
Her wrists have kissed the razor blade.
A cut for every word he said.
A tear for every cut she made.

Across the sea, on battle grounds,
The soldiers fight, standing tall.
Defending lives they left behind,
United they stand, but divided they'll fall.

Nothing's all we truly have,
The only constant, lasting friend.
Nothing ever really matters,
We die alone, in the end.
