The Soul That Lives Inside Me

by Richard Machado   Oct 7, 2007

A new fear has awaken,
From the darkness and it's taken,
All the calm it once awoke.
Ah! The danger, like a cloak.
Scratching fright into my screams
Were all the thoughts inside my dreams--
Hidden deep inside my dreams.
Oh! expanding all my cares:
A nightmare, that dares to dare.
Past my tempting tingling limbs
Striking only on the whim
Of a sound heard behind me--or within,
Or around! I strain to find the
Clamor that beguiles me.

Breathing softly into my ears,
The ringing sound that stabs my ears!
The ringing! How it screams of flesh,
Of the being that is flesh.
A hissing, burning occult desire,
How it burns the flesh like fire!
To leave me to an ash desire--
Again! it leaves me on my own
With the darkness that has thrown
Itself upon my every whim,
To lean itself against my limb
That searches for the sound behind me--or within,
Or around! I strain to find the
Soul that lives inside me.
