I'm Still Here

by Pete   Oct 7, 2007

Written for someone very close to me. Hope it has the desired effect hunni.

Once gone on your way, shrugged us aside.
To continue our relationship only you can decide.
Unconditional love is the way it should be.
We're the best parts of you; but that you can't see.

You ran so far away and severed your ties,
The way that it seems is it's us you despise.
Walked out the door, your new life has been started.
Dashed our hearts on the floor whence you departed.

Do you really not care for all of us anymore?
We used to be loved, now that love is a chore.
Left us all alone, to start a life of your own.
Love, trust and commitment should have been shown.

My love and affection for you just gets scorned,
You're ignoring your offsprings, feeling forlorn,
You're my father so I'll always hold you so dear.
I write you this time to let you know I'm still here!

This was very touching and it really made me smile at the end. The vocabulary really made this piece wonderful as it flowed with the sentences.

    Beautiful write :)

I to know what its like to have a rough relationship with your father and you amazingly put it into a poem. Thanks for the advise on mine, I don't really pay attention to syllables I just kinda throw some stuff together that sounds good. HA, but I'll take it in mine, thanks again.

Very sad peace, but much of this we can all relate to. We've all felt abandoned by ones we've loved at one time or another, whether those feelings were justified for us or not. But this piece has that bit of hope in it, and understanding, and this whole idea that you will welcome him back if he just comes home. It's nice!
