Strands of Gold

by Viola   Oct 7, 2007

Strands of gold
Hold no meaning in the darkness

For you they are unsubstantial
Rushing by like traffic on the street

But I believe in seeing something different
I've always been that way

Even in the darkest of tunnels
There's illuminating lights

Your eyes just can't touch them
But to me--it's the only thing I focus on

I've never let anything go this easy
And I won't start now

My fingertips are holding on
To the cracks in the foundation

I won't allow this all to fall
I can't stand back and watch it crumble

I know there's always a way
Something's there to grasp at

Those strands of gold you tend to ignore--
They're my salvation

They're what keep my heart together.
