Tossed Aside

by Jenni Marie   Oct 8, 2007

Teenagers in misery, feeling so low
People on the streets, with nowhere to go
Dysfunctional family's, battered and broken
Hearts crying in pain, with cruel words spoken

Divided by gender, religion and race
People everywhere, falling slowly from grace
Children starving, nothing but skin and bones
No one to love them, nowhere to call home

Adulterous affairs suddenly starting
Husband or wife now slowly departing
Innocents raped, battered and molested
The culprit never even gets arrested

People in need, never receiving help
Going insane, 'cause of pain that they've felt
Taking anger out on their friends and mother's
Friends turning on friends, sister's on brothers

Cracks in society, why they're starting to show
Doomed to repeat history, instead of learning to grow
Everyone guilty of that harmful sin, his name is Pride
Maybe that's the reason, Society's tossing us aside

Eh, it's kind of a cry for attention. I dont really enjoy reading this genre of poem (although Im a bit guilty of writing them a bit myself). It screams self misery, yet is written very well.

We all hope to live and foster a great life but sometimes the realities of life are so harsh and cruel. Sometimes it hits home with a family member or a close friend.
    Very nicely expressed.
