A Soldier's Story

by Beautiful Chaos   Oct 9, 2007

Bodies laying in the field,
All the spoils war does yield,
Memories that just won't be healed,
Mans true measure, here revealed.

Flexing muscle, drinking power,
Needing something to devour,
Heaven's gone, hell's in power,
Soldiers pray their final hour.

Bullets stream and sail the sky,
Bombs release a battle cry,
There is no peace in this goodbye,
Mothers watch as children die.

Courage lives within the man,
They send to fight what we began,
It's all a web, a master plan,
To do more than the other can.

Religion here and freedom there,
Becoming more than we can bear,
Who will stand, who will care,
When there's nothing left to share?

Men come back, but not the same,
And no one wants to take the blame,
Returning home to live in shame,
Timeless face, forgotten name.

Its a sad and true story, and you somehow managed to find beauty amongst that chaos.
