True Soldier

by Mack Bopape   Oct 9, 2007

We grew up together,
Went to school together
And played our childhood games together
And we are even in the same age group

Comparing myself to you,
I see myself as a coward
And you, well, a true soldier

I say this because of the choice you made
The choice you made after passing metric
Without hesitation, you went straight to the army
You were man enough to make that choice
And I respect you for that, yes I do

I wish I were like you
To have a strong soldier's heart like yours
And come to join you where you are

But I am a coward as I have said
And feel ashamed of comparing myself with you
Risking my life going to army?
Oh! That's the last thing to come to my mind
I'm a sissy, and you are the man
Not just a man, but a real man

For whatever you are doing,
For whatever you will be doing,
I wish you the best of the luck
And may God bless you
And be stronger than you are

I know is hard down there
And you are going through pains and hardship,
That I cannot persevere to be in
That's why I call you a TRUE SOLDIER
Yes you are a TRUE SOLDIER
And I'm saying that without a doubt

"Michael Sebatseba, you are a True Soldier"

Great poem! But you should never compare yourself to anyone. U are U and that is who it should be. You are no "sissy" im sure that you are a man in your own different way.
