The Dream

by candi   Oct 9, 2007

There is a land that i dream of,
a place where war is never thought about.
Where freedom rings, and happy hearts can sing,
This is where the heart of America rests on an eagles wing.

My dream is shattered on Sept 11 2001,
I am awakened to the news of an exploding building.
A pane has crashed into one of our beautiful towers,
Somewhere screams can be heard as the bells being to ring.

I can see the tears fall from a fireman's face,
As you can feel the sorrow in a wifes last words.
And the children now run from there crowded schools,
i watch the chief of police reach for his hero's tool.

Somewhere the angels begin to cry,
they cry for our hearts burdened by death.
Maybe for those who have done us wrong,
As for this mistake they sing their song.

Now here we are six years later,
sill looking for our freedom in Iraq.
Every day a new hero is killed,
And their family begins to rebuild.

Candi, your poem is very beautifula nd it has a very important message or the content is worthwhile. I found some typos and little bloomers. You could correct the (My dream was shattered..., Still/sill)

I gave you 5/5 for the beautiful and mournful content
