24k Restaint Takes Hold Again

by Alexandra Jade Brewer   Oct 9, 2007

A new locket grabs hold
It's tightening around my throat
Surrounded by a sea of unwanted gold
With no sight of a moat

A new pair of abandoning eyes
Stare sadly my way
They don't seem to understand
The pain of her going away

Dreading her far away departure
And lacking the words to speak
She was there through everything
But now my life seems so bleak

I'll hold on to our memories
And cherish all the moments
Never will I be able to say goodbye
To a girl who loved my silly comments

Just got rid of a 24k gold restraint
As she throws another over my head
I don't think I can make it
As every passing second I dread

I chose 24k gold
because there people are hard to come by
And when you lose them
You've lost everything under your sky

People like them don't come cheap
And you have to take care of what you have
24k gold is delicate
And together we cared a precious path.
