Forgotten Faces

by Beautiful Chaos   Oct 12, 2007

There is a girl on the corner who begs for some change,
I dig in my pocket and begin the exchange,
I hold a small bit of money and lay in her hand,
What we take for granted as we breathe through the sand,
For our heads have been buried, we prefer not to see,
This girl on the corner, lost in debris.

But I think of her story, from where she did come,
What was so sad, that to this, she succumbs?
Was there no one to love her or show her the way?
Was there no one to hold her and say it's okay?

Did she decide just to run, even though they did care,
Do they wonder about her and cry in despair?
Does it make her feel empty to stand on this street?
To be scoffed at and stared at, upon this concrete,

Does she sleep somewhere warm or shiver in frost?
Does she dream of the family, she once had, but lost?
I don't really know but my heart must be gracious,
To this girl on the corner even if she's predaceous....
