Of My Dreams

by Renee   Oct 12, 2007

As I lay, my body restlessly confined
Embraced by blankets of silence;
I pray for colorful dreams to find my lonely mind.

Just as sudden as the thought,
Racing, wrought with hands of steel
Mushroom clouds of peaceful reverie
Piercing through my outer peel

Alone I stood, atop a hill
Purple, pondering and still
My eyes, they dart; my mouth in awe
Fingers trembling and raw

Across the field of yellow sand
Squinting through the drazzled fog
Stood a man; an orbit planned
Tracing through the scarlet wands

"Pick a panther from his lair,"
Whisper-read the Tracing Man
"It is there you'll find the answer
to unearth the promise land."

Round the edge I followed tracks
Trekked my way through meadowsweet
Until I stumbled upon a chasm
Aching for my barren feet

Deepest red; 'twas so far down
I heard the purr, her gentle growl
Foul of stench and slobbered teeth
Foaming; she seethes only for me

"I feed your own desires,"
hissed the panther from below
"you can't defeat my fits of fire
for a part of you will also croak."

Searching for a twinkled star
Seizing only draizened clouds
Grey and old I wither; warped
Awaking to a golden frown.
