When I open my eyes and see

They said to me: Follow Him,
He will show you your path.
But my road is dark ahead,
And I'm building up in wrath.

They said to me: He will show mercy,
He will guide us into bliss.
But when I look around, I see,
There's so much here to miss.

They said to me: He'll forgive you now,
A new day, a new chance.
But when I see the world today,
No happiness I glance.

They said to me: Believe in God,
You'll come to heaven one day.
But when I look up to the sky,
There's no light on my way.

They said to me: Worship Him,
He will love you no matter what you do.
But us humans have failed a lot,
I don't see mercy, do you?

They said to me: It's your own choice,
He watches us, here below.
But when I open my eyes and see,
I realize: God left this place years ago.
