A Hero Is...

A hero is a...
A selfless person.
One who would use their body as a shield,
Their mind as a listener,
And their heart as a comforter.

A hero is...
A brave person.
One who would run out into combat,
Because it is their duty,
Because it is their right,
And simply because of their will to protect.

A hero is...
A courageous person.
One who would stand up for what they believe in,
Because no one can control who we are,
And what we were meant to be

A hero is...
A fearless person.
One who would put their life on the line,
Knowing that each time they walk into foreign territory,
They might not be able to come back live.

A hero is...
A patriotic person.
One who would fight for their country,
And for the freedom of all the Americans alive today.
They would hold up the flag with honor,
And carry it with pride.

A hero is all of those things,
And so much more.
While they do their duty on the battlefield,
I will stand behind them,
And show them that what they are doing,
Does not go unnoticed.
I thank them for the hope they have given me,
And for the freedom they have let me keep.
This is my kind of hero.
