Didn't Think It'd Matter

by Amanda Smith   May 5, 2004

You know
I have liked you for months
Never thought it would matter
That something as stupid as this
Could make everything splatter
Everything could be gone
With one simple thing
Pointless and un-meaningful
Is what it all seems
Never thought you would care
Didn’t think it mattered
Never thought something like this
Could make everything splatter
We talked for months
Writing little notes
I love those little notes
But the notes really mean nothing
But how I wish they meant something
I didn’t think it’d matter
Didn’t think It’d come to this
Didn’t think it could change
Because of something like this
I didn’t think you’d care
I didn’t think it mattered
I never thought that something like this
Could make your feelings splatter
Why is it that this can change everything?
It honestly doesn’t matter
One, Two, Three, Five thousand
Years will never change
You know you like me
You said it yourself
But now you are making me
Have my self doubts
Fifth teen okay
Four teen bad
What’s that year have to do
With us being glad
Three years difference
That’s too huge
But how can one year less
Make everything improve?
I didn’t think that it would come to this
I didn’t think you’d care
I didn’t think it’d matter
I didn’t think that a thing like this
Could make everything splatter
I wasn’t the one who lied
But I still don’t understand
I just don’t get what’s so bad
About you wanting to hold my hand
At four teen and seven teen
I don’t see the difference
I don’t see the problem
I don’t get your ignorance
I just didn’t think it’d matter
I didn’t think you’d care
I just always thought
You would always be there…
