Anywhere But Here

by Laura Lamarca   Oct 13, 2007

Decisions set in
concrete clouds...

in fair world, long gone

as scenes flash
in rash choices and
voices breathe ballads
of contradiction,

intentional infliction
on inspiration island

'mid tales of betterment
as mixed resentments
grey in city rhymes.

Once blessed by rains
in drying pains, 'midst
visions of Venus
and false attired
senses of security

mingled lies
left of lonely,
as touch of tender
taunts to taint,
painting promises of
rags to riches

and truth absconds
on friendship's heels...

stripped bare.

Naked wholeness under
duress, reveals relief
of souls with
biased beliefs as
loyalty loiters
on torn edges of injustice

and thoughts become
futile as feelings fall
and hate diminishes,
finishes its reign
to rise again
in love...

and hopes of home.
