I Love You, I'll Let You Go

by Butterflye   Oct 13, 2007

I gave you my heart
Trusting you with all I am
And you were careless
You tripped in selfishness and dropped this treasure
Now I have shreds
Of what I was
I will never have
Walking her home
Or dancing cheek-to-cheek
Kisses in the rain
Cuddling in front of a fireplace
Walks on the beach...
At least not with you
Yet it's with you that I want to share these things
I know we're over
You made that clear
When you chose her
But the pain drags on
I can't stop hurting
For me
It isn't finished
I don't understand
The tears form a river
Bursting forth at random
I've tried building a dam to stop them, but I can't anymore
Numbness withers my soul
So this pain
Is almost a relief
At least I know I'm alive
I need to cry over you
I love you so much
What is it about me
That you can't love?
Didn't you know how I felt?
I didn't try to hide it
Maybe I should have told you that I love you with everything I have
I need together
All those moments
The tender glances
Your smile...
I want to hold on to you
Wrap you in a tight embrace
Never let you go
But you need to be free
So I won't chase you
Not even if I am drowning in my tears, though my chest aches from missing you.
I'll be strong
And love you the best way
By letting you go...
