Young Love

by Danya   Oct 14, 2007

Every time you see her, she has
A new black eye, or bruise.
She has no family, she has no friends,
Because her boyfriend made her choose.

Why does she like to go through that?
Being beaten in the name of love.
Exchanging passionate hugs and kisses,
for an aggressive push or a shove?

She used to be a decent girl, intelligent
Beautiful, and still owned her soul.
But that one year had changed her life and
Swallowed her young heart whole.

She fell in love at age sixteen and
from there on in she gave up her dream.
She could've been a doctor but would
Rather have a child, she postponed her dream.
(But only for a while)

She hasn't yet had the baby
But she's in the hospital everyday.
On account of her boyfriends abuse
Her pain never goes away.

He treats her like dirt when
She should be treated like a queen.
He goes out drinking and cheating,
And leaves her home to clean.

She had a shot at valedictorian and
Everything she needed to succeed.
She's thought about leaving once or twice
But can't because she sees herself as his need.

Nobody understands why she's with him
And truth is, he loves her way too much.
They even plan on getting married someday
But with their families they don't keep in touch.

She believes that he's her soul mate
And thinks that she can't do any better.
She goes through the beating and fights
Because she thinks they belong together.

Some would say that she's naive and
Some say that she's just dumb.
But put yourself in her shoes for a day
And see where she's coming from.

All of town looks down on her;
It's not her fault she fell in love.
Give her a break, she's just a teen
And of her parents are already up above.

Months later she gives birth to a child
And it's a beautiful baby girl.
But hours go by, and the baby dies
She's too premature to last in this world.

But of course she's at fault for their loss
When he's really the one to blame.
Feeling much worse then she already does
She gives her baby girl a name.

She gives her the name "Lucky" because
She didn't have to meet her dad.
She regrets being in love in the first place
And despises the heart he never had.

What has she gotten herself into?
She's in prison without a cage.
Why is she jaded by his so called, "love"
And is this the final stage?

It's sad to witness this happen to girls so
Young and believe it's actually real.
But what can be done to help and can these
Wounds ever really heal?
