A Soldiers Sorrow

by Yvonne   Oct 15, 2007

The shots ringing through the trees.
Brother against brother,
As they fall to their knees.
Both fighting for the glory,
To write their own chapter,
In their country's story.
Willing to die for their side,
To save their way of life,
So they wouldn't have to hide.
The sorrow on those days.
The men left on the field.
Never to see the suns last rays.
But their fight had passed,
They were done for good,
Almost home at last.

This poem is based on the Civil War here in America. This poem was inspired by the song "The Glory" from The Civil War: An American Musical.

Wow. Thats awesome! It sounds like something I read in a text book, but not that this sounds all dry like a textbook. It was really beautiful. Great job!!!
