Don't Get It Twisted.

Don`t Get It Twisted.

Swirls of smoke fill her lungs,
breaking the silence with a cough
she lets out a breath of fresh air -
"Oh sweet surrender hold me close."
And, an applause of somewhat
it comes from behind her,
frightened she jumps, lets out a cry.

"Don`t get it twisted -
the words from my mouth
are but truth in the air,
floating all about.
And, you're good for those things,
the lying and cheats -
So, darling don`t get it twisted,
just hide in your sheets"

-

Cramming her next lesson,
dealing with the dealt.
She set herself up for this,
a heart too easy to melt.
She`s lost it all in his arms,
broken a few hearts along the way.
How truthful is she now,
to get into such a twist?

Swirls of smoke fill her lungs,
breaking the silence with a cough,
she lets out a breath of fresh air-
" Oh sweet surrender hold me close."
And, an applause of somewhat
comes from her right side,
frightened she jumps, lets out a cry.

-

Her very last drop,
she sucks it all in with a smile.
All caffeine inside her now,
she runs another mile
passing out along the way.
And, they rush and they rush,
but she knows they're too slow.
Her hearts been broken
but a million times plus one.

And, swirls of smoke fill his lungs,
breaking the silence with a cough,
he lets out a breath of fresh air-
"Oh sweet surrender hold me close."
And, an applause of somewhat
comes from up above -
in all honesty, relief is on his side.
For, he didn't get it twisted.

I love the repitition here. It really makes this piece wonderful. I feel like it's kind of an unconventional love poem, but it seems to hold even more meaning that way than had it been just like all the others. The poem really pulls the reader in and makes your eyes move down the page, which I congratulate you for... this can be very hard to do. 5/5

Excellent poem! I really admire your ability to use simple and seemingly casual phrases and insert them successfully into a poem with lots of meaning and depth. I enjoy your work a lot!
