Woodpecker's Tapping

by abcede   Oct 17, 2007

There in the back deep depths of my mind
Lies a woodpecker tapping...
tapping...
and cries,
"NO, no don't do it, this is not your way!"
It's taps are confusing, but should I obey?
The tapping - relentless
The buzzing - a pain
I can tell that my body is going insane.
"Will you stop! Please just stop!"
said I to the bird.
But the sound kept on going.
He must not have heard!
"I'll do what I want, you feathery fool!
You have no say, bird, I'm not yours to rule!"

Oh the tapping - relentless
It's faded some now.
I can function...
can live...
without warnings so loud!

Now it's quiet - so weak
It's barely a hum
and I'm losing my strength.
Confusion's begun.
"Oh, woodpecker - guider,
what should I do?"
I get no response.
"Come ON! That's YOUR CUE...
to help me,
I NEED it,
you faking, feigned bird.
I know you can hear me!"
but still...
not a word.

Just silence...
unsure
the guidance is lacking
from what WAS my guide -
the woodpecker's tapping.

So that was orginal. And held meaning. It wasd written in like an abstract way. It was kinda nice to read something different for once. Good Job,
