Pink Monkies

by John Bowlby   Oct 17, 2007

Pink monkeys,
In the trees,
Picking berries,
Shedding fleas.

Pink monkeys,
Swinging 'round,
In the trees,
'Bove the ground.

Oh pink monkeys,
Won't you please,
Ask the fairies,
For their keys?

To let me out,
Of this dream,
For without,
I'm lost it seems.

The pink monkeys,
Just sit and play,
Picking berries,
Leaving me stay.

Pink monkeys! I yell,
Ask the fairies,
To lift the spell,
They'll give more cherries!

Suddenly,
The pink monkeys,
Leave the tree,
Here come the fairies!

Fairies, it's you!
I cry to them,
May I have the magic stew?
Or eat the magic stem?

They giggle and sneer,
Flying around,
Leaving me in fear,
Hiding on the ground.

I close my eyes,
To escape,
And to my surprise,
I awake!

Oh what a dream!
I proclaim,
Then I scream,
There's a pink monkey just the same!
