Queen of the damned

by NyellMoonlight   Oct 18, 2007

I stumbled upon twisted lips of deceit,
eyes black and empty, heart of concrete;
once queen of the damned, now can't conceit
the power of chaos that built my defeat.

Aesthetic collages painted empty street
dragon's breath melted masks with alluring heat
yet my being was shattered, drowned in effete
playing broken tunes within every beat.

Cracks on the soul leaked the blood till their deplete
worn out wings collapsed, couldn't lend me on the feet;
darkness made his kisses tempting and sweet
as the shadows crawled down my body under the sheet;

once queen of the damned, now can't conceit
blissful torture of mirrored songs on repeat.

    Loved it! Very dark, haunting and addicting to read. I think the flow in this one isnt as flawless as what I've read from you before but it still didnt affect the poem for me because the imagery was right on as always and so was your vocabulary. It is so refreshing to read something different on this site besides the same old same and your poems are that for me .. a breath of fresh air. They take me to different places each time and this one just left me in awe. Very strong and powerful .. I enjoyed reading.

    Well done *5/5*

    Brilliant poem, really. "Aestetic collages painted on empty street." What a glorious line! It's like instead of merely writing, your painting the imagination with words. That is a pure talent, friend. Great piece!

    p.s. what does effete mean?
