Tears For an Audience

by Jon Hammer   Oct 19, 2007

With this dam i hold them all
i refuse to let them fall
not until the curtain call

Its happened far to many times
impossible to count the crimes
the world i see hangs by a thread
because of blood the wicked shed
on hopes and dreams they do tread

With this dam i hold them all
i refuse to let them fall
not until the curtain call

A world balanced so precarious
most the occupants so nefarious
stop the war, feed the poor
futile screams to lifes extremes

but with this dam i hold them all
for now refuse to let them fall
not yet has passed the curtain call

as human empathy turns to apathy
the world darkens with alacrity
few now stand for what is right
the hypocrisy is what we fight

the dam has cracked the fractures small
now its impossible to hold this squall
take your seat for the curtain call

i cry for the injustice, inequality and hate
i weep for the president, defense ministers and secretary of state
you cant create peace while promoting war
your legalized premeditated murder i abhor
To take so many lives how do you come to that decision
Yes god bless America, he holds you in derision.

The dam did break, the tears did fall
in our final hour is the time to stand tall
I hope you enjoyed the curtain call

Although the rhyme scheme varied and was slightly inconsistent, the flow of this piece was still great. I especially loved the meaning behind this poem. Excellent work! 5/5
