We Carry Those Burns

by Cody   Oct 20, 2007

In this life,
of ups and downs
twists and turns,
The toll is on us,
We carry those burns
We are left with scars
To show for our past
Realizing a little more
That forever can
Never Last;
Tearing apart your heart,
Ripping through your soul
The illusion of this life,
Is believing you're in control

Nobody knows the answers
Using only what they see
Life is much more,
Than what you've
Created it to be
There are still those questions
Floating in the air
The world is at
Our fingertips
You better go prepare

As our days stretch forth
And new discoveries emerge
The new face
Of the human race
Is on it's verge
With each new generation
Thinking they know it all
Only continues our downward spiral
Letting the flesh enthrall

So keeping an open mind
And allowing the chance to grow
Is the only chance we have
To deepen what we know
You must remove yourself
from your past
Bringing with you only knowledge learned
And appreciate a little more
Those times, when you get burned

    "We carry those burns
    We are left with scars"

I like the way you put this into words.

    "That forever can
    Never Last;"

One of my favorite lines in this poem. Its original. You did a good job with your choice of wording with this one.

    "The illusion of this life,
    Is believing you're in control"

I like this as well. It flows from one word to the next, very good job I loved it.

You first stanza is very good. I like it. It makes me want to read so much more.

    "Nobody knows the answers
    Using only what they see
    Life is much more,
    Than what you've
    Created it to be"

I like this part of your second stanza it flowed extremely well from one word to the next. Just like waves flow together.

    "There are still those questions
    Floating in the air
    The world is at
    Our fingertips
    You better go prepare"

I like how you created great imagery in this. its perfect.

    "The new face
    Of the human race"

    Good rhyme scheme.

    "With each new generation
    Thinking they know it all
    Only continues our downward spiral
    Letting the flesh enthrall
    "
Good use of complex words here. I like it.

    "So keeping an open mind
And allowing the chance to grow
Is the only chance we have
    To deepen what we know
    You must remove yourself
    from your past
Bringing with you only knowledge learned
    And appreciate a little more
Those times, when you get burned
    "

I loved your ending it was a great ending to this poem. I thought this poem was very emotional and complex. I enjoyed reading this very much. Good job. You should check out some of my poetry :D
