Eighteen

Eighteen

Turning eighteen, can be, one of the most monumental days of your life;
Putting behind all the pain youve suffered, during your coming of age and strife.
Remembering the times youve shared, enjoying life in a carefree world;
Realizing that no matter what, you will always be daddys little girl.
Reminiscing, thinking of all the times they broke your heart;
But keep in mind, the pain you suffered, was intended from the start.
It has molded you into a friend, Ive grown to love dearly;
We both have matured, this past year, and now I can see clearly:
That there were many bonds you built, and thought, would last to the end:
But through the typical failures, I assure the loyalty of this friend.
Eighteen also means college that seven letter word that spells freedom;
Yet in your liberation, do not let that be a reason:
To lose contact, with a friend, that hasnt known you for that long;
But in that short time span, weve built a bond, that continues to go strong.
I wish you well, from the bottom of my heart, and I am very proud to say:
Youre all grown up, and have fun, on your very first adult birthday.
