Flower Of Our Love

by Laurenf7   Oct 21, 2007

I had picked one yellow sunflower
To put on the valentine`s care
I was going to send to the girl I loved.

We had been friends for 11 years
Even though I loved her before.
She guessed the card was me
But thought of it as a cute joke.

Through our teenage years
Closer we grew
Even though we were young
It was her I loved , I already knew.

She had a few boyfriends
And I grew more jealous every time
For I had longed for years
To be able to call her "mine".

A few years had gone
Sadly, we had faded away
We met in the street one summers day
And I knew she was still the one.

I put on my brave face
Asking her out to dinner
I was relieved when she replied with a "Yes."
And knew my life was finally complete.

At the age of 25
Our wedding was huge
Before she walked down the aisle
I gave her a yellow sunflower
And watched one single tear roll down her cheek.

    Awh. That's so sweet. (:

    Amazing poem.
Once again, though. Try to even out the lines. The flow was just a bit off. But, overall it was a beautiful and sweet poem. (:
