Mhmm, mhmm

by Richard Machado   Oct 21, 2007

Crunch, Crunch,
'Can you feel, feel them crunching?'
'Mhmm, mhmm'
Crack, crackle,
'Do you hear, at all, the cracking?'
'Mhmm, mhmm'
Snap, snapping,
The leaves are crackling,
Crunching under the heavy weight,
Of the lonely, lonely heart.
'See the stony, groaning heart?'
Winter comes to drive apart
Leaf from tree, and love from soul,
By shifting life to coal:
'Does it hurt to die?'
'Mhmm, mhmm'

Sudden, suddenly,
'Isn't what is sudden, scary?'
'Uhuh, uhuh'
Dark, darkness,
'What can't be seen is wild, right?'
'Mhmm, mhmm'
Loud, louder,
Life is so loud, getting louder,
Screeching, scratching louder, louder
Ever since I've been alive.
'Can't you hear my insanity?'
Frosting cold drives it numb,
The sane and normal; the unrelenting,
Is never numbed, or my
Thoughts of death--
'Was it dark when you died?'

'Mhmm, mhmm'

I love this- I love the use of onomotopeia! I can't use it correctly, it always turns out like a childres story "look at the bunny eating the carrot, munch much munch" lol. But this is great. I'll be checking out some others :)
