Mad World

by Beautiful Chaos   Oct 22, 2007

Neighbor killing neighbor,
Friend betraying friend,
This world if full of chaos,
Our time, one day, will end.

The president's a liar,
The king's been dead for years,
The queen is just a fixture,
Truth just disappears.

Money now the ruler,
Power, like a fix,
Addicted to the madness,
Dying just for kicks.

Empathy in demand,
Open up your eyes,
Every time you look away,
Another spirit dies.

Do not be the poison,
The world has come to drink,
Walk out of the shadows,
Use your mind to think.

What can make it better,
A single steps a start,
We all possess some wisdom,
Obligated to impart.

Be the cure and not the cause,
Strength is found in fear,
Courage is the answer,
To protecting all held dear.

This was wonderfully written, and so true, too.

    "Do not be the poison,
The world has come to drink,
    Walk out of the shadows,
    Use your mind to think."

This was my favourite stanza. I loved the reference to poison, as I feel that it strongly portrays the way our world has become. A poisonous fix that we can't stop ourselves from engulfing.

    Very well done.
