Pretty Girl

by A l y s s a   Oct 22, 2007

She's beautiful.
Innocent and young in her naivety.
She's grown up in a world where poverty is unknown.
When she looks around her all she see's is beauty.
She's never know hurt. She's never known disaster.

She's just a pretty girl, in a pretty world.

Suddenly her perfect world is thrust upside down.
Mind numbing pain. A pain unlike any she's ever experienced.
The tears fail, telling a story that could never be told.
How could he have been so cruel.
She's never hurt anyone, never broken a promise.
So why? She struggles with her inner-being.
It taunts her, mocking her beyond belief.

She's just another pretty girl, forgotten by an ugly world.

They laugh at her, telling her to get over it.
She struggles, fighting to stay strong.
He won't see her tears, he'll never hear her complaints.
She refuses to give him that satisfaction.
So she sits alone, willing herself to move on.

She's just another pretty girl, in a lonely world.

She doesn't regret it. Regrets aren't worth having.
But its okay now, she doesn't want him anymore.
He was a fake, a pretend man. She sees that now.
She doesn't need him. She never needed him.

She's just another pretty girl, in a worldly world.

But she's more than that.
She's an extraordinary girl, living in an oblivious world.

This could be a song. It's pretty good, and it of flows.

"She's just a pretty girl, in a pretty world.

Suddenly her perfect world is thrust upside down."

That transition was abrupt but I like where it took the poem and how it all tied together at the end.
