The Memory Of A Heart

by Cantchangeme   May 7, 2004

The corner of a dark room
And the light that invades
Love hearts form circles
Around your razor blades

You load the gun that they fire
At the helpless infant un-born
But I know you’d sell the dusk
To taste the death of the dawn

I light the fire and burn my hand
The face of the lost burnt in sand
My feelings are stupid just like me
Can’t we live in peace and empathy?

Spikes sharpened by your thoughts
As my mind and soul contorts
Leave this patchwork heart bleeding
There are demons that need feeding
In my head…

Flowers held within a basket
Upon my blood red shelf
I know that ill think of you
Whilst you think of yourself

Watch the paper on the table
Just like my heart once worked
If you hold up that paper into the light
You’ll see it looks like dirt

Yes I do believe in ghosts
I’ve seen you in my dreams
I’ve lost all the contact I had
With what love really means

So take this for what its worth
I hope some know what it means
This is what my mind has suffered
And what my eyes have seen
